JUSTICE FOR SOMTO: Police Parade 12 Kill*rs, Vow Maximum Prosecution
ABUJA – The Nigeria Police Force has taken the killers off the streets. In a powerful display of justice delivered, the NPF today publicly paraded the twelve suspects directly connected to the cold-blooded armed robbery that claimed the lives of Arise TV reporter Somtochukwu Maduagwu and security guard Barnabas Danlami.
The brutal attack, which shattered the peace at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension on September 29, has been met with an uncompromising response. Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, declared the arrests were the direct result of a “coordinated, intelligence-driven investigation” that hunted down the perpetrators in the wake of the tragedy.
“We have them,” the announcement effectively stated, naming the twelve individuals now in custody: Shamsudeen Hassan, Hassan Isah (22), Abubakar AlKamu a.k.a. Abba (27), Sani Sirajo a.k.a. Dan Borume (20), Mashkur Jamilu a.k.a. Abba (28), Suleiman Badamasi a.k.a. Dan-Sule (21), Abdulsalam Saleh a.k.a. Na-Durudu, Zaharadeen Muhammad a.k.a. Gwaska (23), Musa Adamu a.k.a. Musa Hassan (30), Sumayya Mohammed a.k.a. Baby (27), Isah Abdulrahman a.k.a. Abbati (25), and Musa Umar a.k.a. Small (31).
The evidence laid bare their violent trade. Recovered from the gang was an arsenal fit for an insurgency: one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, a locally made pistol, a pump-action gun, 36 live rounds of 9mm ammunition, two live cartridges, and an assortment of other weapons including knives and a cutlass.
Police investigations confirm the chilling details. The fatal shot that murdered security guard Barnabas Danlami—a man simply doing his duty to protect residents—was fired by suspect Shamsudeen Hassan. In a further revelation that points to a grave national security threat, the Force disclosed that this criminal network sourced its weapons from a supplier in the Niger Republic and had unleashed a wave of terror across Katampe, Apo, Zuba, and other parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
While offering condolences to the grieving families and colleagues, the Police Force made its position unequivocally clear. There will be no leniency, no escape.
“The Force remains resolute in ensuring that all individuals connected to this grievous crime are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” CSP Hundeyin stated. This is a promise of swift and severe justice for Somto and Barnabas.
